This is the Temple of Debod, which had a huge reflecting pool. I wish it was a real pool, because it was hot that day.
I was psyched when I checked into my hotel room. This was the view from my window.
This was taken on Calle Fuencarral, a long street into the center of town with lots of trendy shops. And churches.
I took this from the window of where I was having some smoked salmon on bread and a coke. That's what you do all day in Madrid. Snack, walk around, repeat.
Aaah, Madrid. There's some gorgeous buildings here, and the weather to match. This is the side of the Palacio Real.
This is the park around the Temple. It seems all the parks in Madrid have tree lined dirt walkways that cut through these nice grassy areas like this one.
Unfortunately I didn't bring my European power converter, so I couldn't charge my camera battery. So, I had to pick up a couple cheap disposables which are responsible for the grainy / slightly cut off shots in this album.

I made my way over to Parque de Retiro, which is one of the largest and most popular parks in Madrid.
I call this "Baby riding a lion sniffing the armpit of a tree."
One of the many super manicured parks
That's some seriously green water they got there.
All that walking has made me hungry. This outdoor area had hundreds of tables, and I had to walk around for about 10 minutes before one freed up close enough to me to get it.
People didn't seem to understand "Greg" when I gave them my name. But "Greeehgory" they understood. Here's the Restaurant Gregorio the 3rd.
It's about 7 pm, and notice all the empty tables. I came back here for dinner around 9:30 and it was still all empty. By 10:30 the place was packed and people still kept showing up looking for seats.

Here's the one photo I had someone take of me, in one of my favorite parks in Madrid - Plaza de Oriente
