They love their waterfront here in Austin.
My first week in Austin I found a great place to sublet walking distance from work and right up the street from this boat launch on Lake Austin.
If I only had a boat.
Welcome to Austin. These are probably the only totem-pole like carvings you'll see here, but they sure are good ones. Supposedly they're the brainchild of my coworker Ben, but give it to Hula Hut for actually doing it.
I'll be doing this to a lot of photos in this album, so watch out.
Nice, huh? There's more closeups coming of this one later.
This house is right up the street from the place I'm staying. So cool.
Who is Wolfgang? I'm still trying to figure it out myself. So far, he's like me except about 8 years from now. Way to go, future self.
My sweet ride. Not nearly as sweet as Wolfgang's Beamer (on loan from the Benz he usually drives.)
From right to left: Grumpy, Sour Face, and Goofy.
Up the street there's a huge cliff overlooking the lake. Nice views all around.
Try not to look at this photo too long.
They should put speakers in their hair and make cracks at people that walk by.
Everyone seems to have these crazy yards with funky trees, benches, walls, and other cool stuff.
Massive cactus type bushes.
Some have these places along the lake with gardens and stuff, but beware.
I've gotta make friends with whoever owns this place.
They have been working on this house down the street for a while now. It's kind of ugly looking but looks like a great party place.
I really dig this photo. Really.
This was one of the coolest lakefront patios I've ever seen. Down below is where they store their boat and lower it into the water when they want to go for a ride.
You can kind of see it, but there's a foot bridge on the right that goes across the road to their lakeside hangout area / swimming pool / boat & jetski launch.
Here's where I usually start my run, just by a bunch of water coolers that the city puts out for runners.
Another house at the corner of our street.
There's a few spots along the waterfront to rent kayaks. Lots of nights you even see people playing this water polo style game on kayaks underneath the bridge.
I warned you.
Brad happend to be in town one Saturday, which happened to be a great day for frisbee in the park and beers afterwards on a porchfront place on 6th.
More views from along the running / bike path.
Not a bad place to sit.
Ah, Mozart's. My every morning lakeside free wireless internet coffee hangout before work.
I was on a salad kick one week. Check out that bad boy.
Some wierd metal / concrete structure next to the kayak launch joint.
I know where I need to bring my breast feeding friends when they come to visit me in Austin.
Yeah, that's my sweet ride again. It could really use some new rims to really pimp it out.
The second half of the photos in this set are more recent.
